I felt like I was in your garden and it encouraged me to spend more time in mine, just as soon as this rain has stopped - though I can’t help but think how good it is for the plants. The eremurus look beautiful and one I think I will try next year. How many spires does each plant produce? and who is a good supplier? The dahlias you helped me select are going great guns and will likely start flowering soonish - so thank you.
I love them! They do take up quite a bit of room for just a few weeks of flowering but they are stunners. These have been in for at least 6 years and get better and better each year. I have packed them in, planting like dahlias at around 5 per 1.2m x 1.2m (all my beds are that width). Ideally I would keep weed free and feed better but I don't and they thrive. This year I sowed red clover, a green manure, around their feet. I wonder if that helped? I must have got at least 5 or 6 minimum spires per plant but I will have a count up when I am there this afternoon and report back if it's vastly different. I got the plants from Peter Nyssans - they were all supposed to be different colours but all bar 2 are orange! Great quality and I get most bulbs from there so don't let the colours put you off! Thrilled your dahlias are doing well. Please share a photo of them when they flower.
