I agree a strong base of perennials eases the stress of growing annuals. In my second year micro-farming I’m focusing on garden aesthetics and focal points such as adding a bench, seating area and arch- all of which will be surrounded by perennials and interspersed with annuals. (I love your photos)

Those elements are real icing on the cake but work spaces have just as much need to be beautiful as well as productive, if not even more so! It took me a long time to allow myself the permission for that but the spaces are much more enjoyable (and photographable) for it!

Do paper whites come back next year? I w read conflicting answers on this and wasn’t sure whether to keep or not 💛

They aren't hardy so won't grow if you plant them outside, but will grow and flower again if you save them to replant for flowering indoors. I think their success will depend on feeding them as they die back and storing carefully. I haven't fed mine at all so adding to list for today!

Just starting to enjoy the perennials planted a few years ago. Today we enjoyed a big jug of crabapple blossom - planted for the sole purpose of cutting so felt almost guilt free. And let’s give a mention to the changes outside in the last few weeks - it’s still grey skies up north but looking very jolly and beautiful at ground level. And the cardoons bought as tiny plants as pot toppers - then dumped into a veg bed that are now enormous - and no effort involved x and enjoying this bliss before the weeds become huge x

Yes! What a treat to have a jug full of apple blossom. They really are some of the prettiest. You are right too, seeing neat lush new growth with no weeds is a joy!

Your floral creativity! Just seeing those last few photos makes me want to make button holes, wreaths and table settings (inviting table in your high tunnel). 😍

And I was wondering the best way to store my bulbs so I'll put them in bags now then x

Give them that time to die back and dry out but yes, rather like seeds, dry and stable conditions! Xx
