If you have a window sill or a spot by your front door for a pot, you can grow something to flower. Or eat. Or better, both!
With light levels rising, there is a tantalising glimpse of what’s to come. The ground remains very cold and the air still, so I’m going easy with seed sowing; only starting hardy varieties right now.
Most farmer florists and certainly flower farmers of scale, grow seeds in trays. Either to prick out and transplant, or in separate modules. I have tried this numerous times but it’s never as good as my slightly unusual method.
You see, when I began growing cut flowers, in 2015, I didn’t have a polytunnel or greenhouse. I grew everything on my cottages narrow windowsills.
