So you’ve got dahlias. Those went well this year didn’t they?

Or, heaven forbid, you are one of those that aren’t wild on these babies but prefer bulbs of acidanthera, sunflowers and chrysanthemums, again like dahlias, are ok in a vase on their own, but need some backing singers if making a bouquet, for wedding work or something more telling of the season.

Here are some of my favourite ingredients in September, and oft an October when despite plenty of annuals still flowering, you could do with something that gives a little more.

These perennials really tell a story of a garden, mature in the year, adding texture and interesting moments.
